ON NEW YEAR'S DAY
BLOWS AT ENEMY IN FRANCE LONDON, January 2. The large scale air offensive against the enemy in northern France con- * tinued yesterday. Large waves of fighters and bombers passed over the south-east coast of England during the morning. The formation comprised machines flying at all heights, with the fighters wave-hopping and the bombers out of sight in the mist. It was later stated officially that U.S.A.A.F. j tnedium bombers and R.A.F. medium,! light, and fighter-bombers, with R.A.F., Dominion, and Allied fighters giving .escort, again attacked objectives in - northern France. The targets attacked included two important roller-bearing factories hi ''the Paris area which are working for ] the Germans. \
