TROOPS ON WESTERN SECTORS
Rec. 11 a.m. RUGBY, December 17. More information as to the 'enemy forces facing the Fifth Army is available at army headquarters. Five divisions seem to have been taking part in the recent action, including two recently arrived from North Italy. About a month ago the 305 th; Infantry Division came south from the Italian Riviera, and was followed a week ifater by the 4th Division, brought , from Slovenia. The 29th Panzer Grenadiers, wnich fought in Sicily and took part I in the Salerno action, has been in and out of the lines since, but has been replaced, and has been back in action for nearly three weeks. The 57th Panzer Grenadiers, like the 29th Panzer Grenadiers^are motorised, and also* fought in Sicily. - ' ' Although elements of them fought with the Hermann Goering Division at Salerno, the majority remained to guard the beaches in the Naples region, fearing another landing*. Later they moved to Caserta; but were pulled back as we advanced. The 94th Infantry Division, which is one of the Stalingrad divisions, has been brought, down from the area round Genoa.— 8.0. W.
