WOOLWORTHS (N.Z.) PROFIT.
After deducting all working expenses, and making allowance for depreciation, the accounts of Woolworths (N.Z.); Ltd.; for the year ended October 1 show a profit of £311,177. Out of this, taxation provision amounting to £225,840 has been set aside, leaving, a net profit of £85,337. Tho usual 9 per cent, preference dividend and an interim dividend of 5 per cent, on the ordinary shares have already been paid/and the directors recommend a further 5 per cent, ordinary dividend, making 10 per cent, for the year. This is the same as last year. , Net profit ;ast year was £77,726 (taxation £233,610). The annual meeting takes place tomorrow.
The accounts of Woolworths (Victoria) for tho year ended September 30 show a profit of £ 44,782, after deducting working Texpenses and depreciation. A preference dividend of 7 per cent, has already been paid, and the directors now recommend an ordinary dividend of 11 per cent. Income tax paid during' the year amounted to £29,260, and £48;745 is carried forward.
