CRICKET REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES
Canterbury's suggested programme for interprovincial cricket during the Christmas-New Year period was considered by the Wellington Cricket Association's management committee at this week's meeting. Provision was made in the programme for a match in Wellington at New; Year in addition to the Christmas match with Auckland at the Basin Reserve. On account of the gala at the Basin Reserve it would, however, not be possible to have a New Year match there, it was stated, and it was decided to notify Canterbury accordingly, ipointing out also that Wellington would be willing to play Canterbury in Christchurch at New Year. The visit to Canterbury would be conditional on the Wellington players being billeted and on the proceeds of the match being shared on a 50-50 basis. The Wellington committee also decided to seek the views of the other major association committees on the question of resuming the, Brabin trophy: matches during the coming Christmas-New Year period. Price orders relating to main crop potatoes (growers' prices), butter wool-packs, maize (growers' prices), and swede turnips are advertised today.
