At a meeting of the Wellington Re- c < habilitation Committee recently it was p reported that 3170 men had been dis- S] charged or demobilised in the Wei- n lington district up to September 30 C ( and had been dealt with as follows: — p Not yet discharged or remaining on h military service in New Zealand, 470; p: in hospital or recuperating at home, tl 273; undergoing adult apprenticeships, n 103; returned to pre-service employ- pi ment, 787; resumed employment other tr than pre-service, 1029; acquired or re- a] turned to own businesses or farms, 92; under action, 416. Applications e( during September for loans for busi- a nesses, houses, furniture, farms, were gf dealt with as follows:—Approved, tr £7244; declined, £4985. A report was presented by the training committee showing that three disabled servicemen had been approved for training in new trades by the Disabled Servicemen's Re-estab- te lishment League. ™ A housing committee report dealt ywith the cases of three deserving cases *? of returned servicemen who had been U( allocated State rental houses during 2J the month.
