A CHANGE IN SPORT
MIRAMAR TENNIS COURTS
A report presented to the City Council last night by Councillor R. L. Macalister, chairman of the reserves committee, proposed new sports uses for the land until recently leased to the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association. It is that Hhe area, excepting the asphalt courts, shall be dealt with thus: The two dividing fences at the south of the park to be removed and the area used as a public park (it will accommodate two full-sized Rugby grounds during the winter and four cricket pitches during" the summer); the two blocks of grass courts to be left as at present; the grass to be kept mown and rolled (these can be used for school cricket if necessary); the grandstands to be removed and stored under cover; a caretaker to be appointed to supervise the area and prevent further vandalism. A request for part of the area for use as a ladies' bowling green is to be further discussed between the ladies and the committee.
