Mr. T. Hastie, chairman of Austin Distributors, Ltd., Melbourne, said at the recent annual meeting that it had been necessary to find investments for the company's funds that had accumulated as a result of cash sales and the maturing of hire purchase contracts, with tho result that the company's investments in bonds and shares greatly exceeded the total paid-up capitaj. It was impossible to purchase new car stocks overseas, and the only turnover possible was from the . balance of heavy stock purchased several years ago in anticipation of the present position. A very small stock remained, and this might be sold only to users with Government authority to purchase. '
