SPRING SLOWER SHOW
The Wellington Horticultural Society's spring show was held in' the Sydney Street Schoolroom on Wednesday, and exhibitors staged a fine selection of blooms. Mrs. Knox Gilmer presided, and Lady Myers opened the show. Mr. H. J. Poole won the open championships for daffodils, Mr. H. Nicholson and Mr. M. A. Kingdon being the amateur exhibitors who obtained championship honours in the trumpet and non-trumpet daffodil classes respectively.
Other trophy awards were:—lzard memorial Trize, Wellington City Reserves; New Zealand Institute of Horticulture Trophy, Mr. H. J. Poole; National Daffodil Society's silver medal, Mr. G. \V. Cairns; National Daffodil Society's bronze medal, Mr. M. A. Kingdon; Messrs. T. Waugh and Son's prize, Mr. It. S. Purvis; Mrs. Knox Gilmer's trophy, Mrs. J. Abernelhy.
Principal prize-winners were:—Daffodil section, open, Mr. Poole, Rev. Mr. Peryman, Mrs. G. Parsons, Mr. G. W. Cairns, Mr. M. A. Kingdon. Daffodil section, amateur, Messrs. M. A. Kingdon, A. J. In the decorative amateur section prizewinners were Mrs. A. M. Branson, 5 firsts, 2 seconds; Mrs. A. Harris, 4 firsts,-6 seconds; Mrs. E. M. Henderson, 3 firsts, 4 seconds; Mrs. J. Taylor, 1 first.
