CRICKET CONTROL

LOCAL ANNUAL MEETING

There are two changes on the committee of the Wellington Cricket Asf sociation as the result of the annual meeting last night when Mr. M. F< Luckie presided over a good attendance of delegates. Messrs. R. W. Coupland (Karori) and A. Ronaldson (Wellington College Old Boys and a former member of the committee) replace Messrs. I. Nimmo, who has gone into the Services, and J. Gray. No policy changes were decided upon. Both the president and the chairman of the committee, Mr. J. D. Howitt, said that, contrary to the experience in Christchurch, where it has been decided to return to two-day club matches, the one-day system had continued to be very satisfactory in Wellington as a wartime expedient. The Hutt Club submitted a notice of motion in favour of giving some recognition to drawn games, but as insufficient notice had been given no vote was taken on it. The balance of opinion appeared to .be strongly against the change. The retiring management committee was congratulated on the manner in which it had conducted the association's affairs and particularly on the fact that the season had shown a small profit.' In this connection Mr. Howitt expressed satisfaction that a rebate, of ground rent had at last been obtained from, the Wellington < City "Council;' • ■ ■ Mr. Howitt also referred to the prominent part which Service matches had played during the season (over £70 was raised for the patriotic funds), and said the Services were expected to figure even more extensively in the new season's operations. Mr. M. F. Luckie was re-elected president, and among the vice-presi-dents the name of the late Mr. A. F. Wiren and that of Mr. W. A. Armour (who has left the district) were deleted and the following added:—Messrs. E. O. Blamires, R. L. McAlister, E. N. Hogben. Other officers elected are:— Management committee, Messrs. J.-.D.' Howitt. R. W. Coupland, A. Ronaldson, W. A. Baker, L. J. Brabin, J. Reid, H. E. Moore, B. Pegler; hon. secretary, Mr. J. A. Carrad; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. E. Banks. =.
