BASHFUL LADY SPRINTS
P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Bashful Lady was outstanding among the Winter Cup horses to gallop on the course proper at Riccarton this morning, covering six furlongs with Justitia in 1.16 3-5 after running the first two in 25 2-ssec. It was an even better effort on the part of Justitia as she is a hack, but she is not racing on the first day. Sing Sing was clear of Gulf Stream at the end of six furlongs in 1.19 3-5, the pair running the first two in 25 3-ssec.

Good Health and Maggiore had jumped two hurdles when Maggiore ran into Good Health at the third, the latter dropping his rider. They set off again later with Gay Hussar, but when in the rear Maggiore fell at the fourth and last hurdle. The other pair shaped well.
