Rec. 11 a.m. RUGBY, August 4. The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, asked by Mr. R. J. G. Boothby ■(Conservative) whether, in view of the agreement reached between General de Gaulle and General .Giraud, the Government would accord de facto recognition to the French National Committee of Liberation, replied that he welcomed* the arrangement, as one which would make a still further contribution to French unity and the concentration ; of the French effort on.the war. On the question of recognition, he could not say more at present. On Mr. Boothby pointing out that recognition at the earliest possible monient would be very welcome to large numbers of people, Mr. Eden suggested that it was desirable to try to do that together with' all' the' othe^ Allied Powers.—B.O.W* "
