KING RECEIVES FREYBERG
LONDON, July 28. Lieutenant-General Freyberg arrived from the United States during last week. The King, at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, knighted him eighteen months after the announcement of his appointment as K..C.8.E.
AMERICAN ARTIST MISSING Rec. 1 p.m. SYDNEY, July 29. Lieutenant-Commander McClelland Barclay, aged 51, a United States navy artist and one of America's best-known illustrators, is missing in action, believed killed, in the Solomons. He left Australia for the Solomons about three weeks ago. While in Australia he painted portraits of General MacArthur and many high United States army and navy officers.
Private Charlie Teece, Democratic Labour Party candidate for Wellington South, and Mr. Les. Frame, candidate for Wellington Suburbs, will speak at a public meeting in St. Hilda's Hall, Island Bay, at 8 o'clock tonight.
