AWARD TO APPRENTICE

Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, July 20. . The "London Gazette" announces the award of the George Medal to Apprentice Colin Fookes, of Eltham, New Zealand, whose ship was set on fire by dive-bombers. Fookes entered the blazing magazine and removed 'a case of cordite which was smouldering.
