ROBOT AIMING DEVICE

USE ON AMERICAN TANKS

Rec. 9 a.m

NEW YORK, July 20.

Tests in combat on the proving grounds have demonstrated the ability of a newly-developed robot aiming device to increase by several hundred per cent, the shooting accuracy of tanks while in motion, says the "New York Herald Tribune." , The robot is called a gyrostabiliser, and is being produced in sufficient quantities to equip all new tanks. It is explained that the stabiliser enables the gunners to fire accurately even while racing at full, speed across the battered terrain of battlefields. The stabiliser in effect places the gun on a floating base, enabling the gun barrel to be maintained at a fixed elevation regardless of the tank's movements.
