EAST HARBOUR SERVICEMEN

The East Harbour welcome to returned servicemen took the form of a social and dance in the Pavilion, Day's Bay, on Saturday evening. The guests were welcomed by the Mayor of Eastbourne (Mr. E. W. Wise). Other speakers were the Hon. W. Nash, on behalf of the Government; the Hon. W. Perry, on behalf of East Harbour Returned Soldiers' Association; Mr. H. E. Combs, M.P. for the district, and Mr. J. B. Yaldwyn, representing the Hutt County Council. The Mayoress, Mrs. Wise, and Mrs. Nash .were among those present.

Captain Hamilton Brown replied on behalf of the servicemen.

The 2YA Concert Party, under the direction of Mr. H. Rudolph, supplied musical items. An excellent supper was provided by the ladies' committee of the East Harbour Servicemen's Club, with Mrs. F. Martin as secretary. The club orchestra supplied the dance music.
