R.A.F. RAIDS IN JUNE
FALL IN GERMAN MORALE
Rec. 12.20 p.m
KUGBY, July 2.
During the last 20 nights of June ! 15,000 tons of bombs were discharged !on enemy targets by the R.A.F., states |the Air Ministry. Of this total 10,000 [tons, were dropped in the Ruhr. Cologne was attacked in . force, and the Schneider armament works at Le Creusot received a concentrated blow A prominent neutral newspaper correspondent states: "All my sources of information report that there has^ been a catastrophic fall in morale and conditions in the spring of this year in Germany. The gravest problem is the question of the bombed-out population of big cities. It is becoming increasingly impossible for the authorities to deal with this, and if the bombing should continue as at present, Ger many will be faced with a really grave crisis on this score alone." The Air Ministry has also received corroboration of previous reports of the general effectiveness of smallscale Mosquito raids. Utter fatigue is^ prevalent among the Berlin population. The bombing has also had a serious e^ffect on German transport, some rout& being stopped altogether, while others have suffered considerable delays. ' Against the increasing tempo of the R.A.F. attacks, German sorties against Britain dropped approximately 40 per cent, during the month. The R.A.F destroyed 83 Axis aircraft over Europe and 25 over Britain, and lost 335. The Middle East Command destroyed 62 planes for the loss of five, while the North Africa air force claimed 264 for the loss of 64.—8.0. W.
