In the Magistrate's Court on Thursday he was convicted by Mr. .T. L. Stout, S.M., of being idle and disorderly, and was sentenced to one month's hard labour. Frank Wright, soldier, 21, a vital points guard, pleaded guilty to stealing £8 from his room mate. He. spent the money in drink and visiting friends, and Detective-Sergeant W. McLennaa described the theft as mean and contemptible. . Wright was sentenced to one month's hard labour, the Magistrate saying that that class-of offence had to bo put down. Kenneth Jory Beeves, brickmaker, 23, who was employed as a billiards marker and given keys ,to the premises,. went back after closing anoV stole a set of snooker balls valued at £20. He was sentenced to six months' hard labour, and was remanded to appear at Wanganul on a charge of breaking and entering, a house and.stealing £178. The police said he had a bad list. >'orman Theodore Kater, clerk and labourer, 41 (Mr.-O. I. Joseph), pleaded guilty before Mr. W.; I\. Stllwell, S.M., and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence on a charge of indecently assaulting a seven-years-bid boy. Frederick Murray, labourer and soldier, 46 (Mr. G. C. Kent), denied breaking and entering a house at Wallacevllle and stealing £17 worth of jewellery, and was committed to the ■ Supreme 'Court by Mr. Stilwoll for trial.
