TRIP TO THE COUNTRY

CONCERT PARTY'S SHOW The Victoria. League Concert Party, i accompanied by Mrs. Buck, of the American Red Cross, made a long journey by bus yesterday to give a I performance for servicemen stationed |in a country district. Within fifteen j ! minutes of the party's arrival at its destination the show commenced, and i although the performers were unfamiliar with' the stage, never having played before in this particular theatre, and although it was-their first presen-j tation of an entirely new; snow, tile performance went right through -without a hitch. Every item on the varied programme received great applause from the large gathering. of service-; men, arid:'with this reception in tmnd, j I the party should be able to : give per- ! formances* in all the camps with.com- j plete confidence. Mrs. Bessie McKinlay is the producer and Miss Cora ! Duncan the ballet mistress. In. the jopening number the entire company appears on the stage dressed in a variety of colourful costumes, some ap-| pearing as penguins, some as ice; I skaters and ice maidens, and others as Eskimos. The. programme includes | ballet and solo dancing and sketches, and plenty of swing music. After the show the members.were entertained at the local American Red Cross Club, where they were given a hot meal, and on the homeward journey they were thanked by Mrs. Buck for then* splendid performance. ;'
