RUSSIANS SCORE

SALIENT PENETRATED

ADMISSION BY NAZIS LONDON, June 24. Successes have been scored by Russian troops and local artillery on both sides of the German salient at Orel. To the north-east, Red Army men broke into a German defence position, and to the south-west the Russians penetrated a German headquarters and smashed up a railway station. The Germans have been talking for several days about Russian attacks, and they now say that Soviet forces have broken into the main German defence line south of Velikie Luki. There is no confirmation of this from the Russians.
