WELLINGTON COLLEGE
OLD BOYS' INTEREST Satisfaction with the manner in which the Wellington College Old Boys' Association had functioned during the past year was expressed by the president (Mr. Justice Blair) at the association's annual meeting held at the college on Tuesday. It was a matter of great pleasure, he said, to have as the new headmaster an old boy of the college, Mr. E. N. Hogben. A plea was made by Mr. W. H. Denton for the younger members of the association to take more direct interest in the affairs of the college and its affiliated clubs. A recommendation by him that a meeting between the association and the clubs be called to consider the matter was adopted. The election of officers l-esulted as follows:—President, Mr. Justice Blair; vice-presidents, Messrs. H. Desborough and A. J. Curtis: hon. secretary, Mr. W. W. Cook; assistant hon. secretary, Mr. R. Darroch, jun.; hon. treasurer, Mr. B. O. Binnie; committee, Colonel R. St. J. Beere, Lieutenant-Colonel As L. George, and Messrs. C. A. Innes, C. D. Mac Donald, J. R. Cuddie, T. E. Beard, H. C. Middlebrook, R. Cooke, R. Pope, and B. P. Julian, with the War Memorial and the sports' clubs representatives. Tribute paid by the president to Mr. Cook's service as secretary during the past 31 years was heartily endorsed by the well-attended meeting. The headmaster (Mr. Hogben) expressed the school's appreciation of the assistance given by the Old Boys' Association, and his own appreciation of the many messages he had received and the welcome accorded him on taking up the responsible post to which he had been appointed.
