THE WEEK AT A.N.A. CLUB
After a crowded cafeteria every day and large attendances in the ballroom every evening, the A.N.A. Club's busy week culminated in a particularly en-i joyable dance on Saturday evening.! Cfirl members wh . attended all wore? evening di*ess and the dance music j provided was excellent. Servicemen i on leave are always at the club early ! in the evening and for this reason \ girls of the auxiliary are asked to ar-i rive at 7.30- when attending dances. A i Marine Corps band provided something I special in the way of dance music on Tuesday evening, extras being played by Sergeant-Major Jack Lauchlan. As usual the floral decorations in the clubrooms were artistically earned out and thanks are expressed to Mrs. F. T. Clere anC Miss Cook, of Eastbourne, for flowers. The executive asks supporters able to contribute flowers'to leave them at the club during th.2 week. In addition to A.N.A. regular helpers, groups from the Senior Navy League were on duty on Wednesday, the Junior Navy League on Sunday and Victoria League members on Saturday evening. The executive is grateful for gifts" from the following donors: —Dannevirke Women's Patriotic Society (box of butter and potatoes), Mr. M. S. Chambers (lamb), W. H. Walker and Sons, Hayvera (carton of ham), Ministerial Residence, Tinakori ; Road, also Patea. Hawera. Hutt. and I Petone land groups of W.W.S.A. (vegetables). MAORI ITEMS AT V.M.C.A. The V.M.C.A. ladies' auxiliary provided hostesses for the soldiers' tea at the V.M.C.A. on Sunday, when soldier guests were entertained by a party of Maori singers. Mr. R. S. AUwright was chairman. Musical items were also contributed by Mrs. Arnold Downer. Mr. and Mrs. Allwright. the Misses McQueen. Miss Sybil Campbell, Miss L. Finlay. Mr. Graham Johnston, and Mr. Francis Walker. VICTORY CLUB ITEMS. An excellent tap ballet given by the pupils of Mrs. Cathcart was greatly appreciated by the many servicemen who visited the Victory Club on Saturday night. On Wednesday and Friday nights dance extras were played by Miss Rose Mennell. Staff-Sergeants Glen Prestige and R. Robb were masters of ceremony. The committee extends sincere thanks to Mr. G. Wade and Mr. G. Clarke for their assistance during past months.
