FIRES IN FEBRUARY

During February tke brigade received 107 calls, stated the monthly return presented to the Wellington Fire Board yesterday. Of these 53 were to actual fires and 54 were false alarms. Of the actual fires 17 were property, 35 gorse, grass, or rubbish, and only one chimney. Seven fires attended were out of the district. The total calls received by the brigade for the eleven months of the year ended February 28 was 1154, compared with 1008 for the corresponding period of last year.
