"POPPY DAY"
It'has been decided by the Wellington R.S.A. to hold Poppy Day appeal on Friday, April 16, this year,. said Colonel Weston- today. The nature of the Poppy Day appeal is well known to the citizens of Wellington, and it is hoped that a record collection can be made.
Now that members of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. are returning, the activities of the R.S A. have increased greatly, and its obligations will require additional funds. Colonel Weston makes a special appeal for private donations to supplement the Poppy Day appeal. Cheques or war bonds may be forwarded to the secretary, Mr. L. W. Woolley, or the organiser, Mr. R. Malcolm.
In addition to many features sponsoring this appeal arrangements are being finalised for a ceremonial military parade, which will be headed by a detachment of specially-trained American marines and their famous band, incorporating the Navy, Army. Air Force, Women's Reserve, and R.S.A. oersonnel, such parade to be held on Poppy Day.
