LIQUOR SALES
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —When will hotelkeepers and breweries, etc., be disciplined regarding spirits that are not reaching the public since the rationed period was put into force? The class of people who never abused liquor and always had a little in their houses for emergencies have been left high and dry for nearly a year now, yet Hawke's Bay and some other provinces are never short of whisky or brandy. Supplies are still arriving from overseas. How do sly grog-sellers secure their supplies? Stocks of whisky, brandy, and sherry secured by these sellers would go a long way to give us old people, now gone back to work, a chance of a taste now and then. I would like to see a rigid control of hotels who are not letting .the public get the chance to buy what is their re--duced supply. As this will be an election issue this year, certain interests in the liquor trade need to be regimented.—l am, etc., SEVENTY.
