FIGHT FOR CONTROL OF U.S. PRODUCTION
NEW YORK, February 16. "I am fighting for my life against demands by the army and navy that the War Production Board should be abolished," said the chairman of the board, Mr. Donald Nelson. The "New York Herald Tribune's** Washington correspondent says that & feud between the armed services and the War Production Board has been going on for some time over the author* ity to control war production. This dispute recently reached a climax when the army and navy protested against Mr. Nelson's decision to transfer seven War Production Board divisions, including the important aluminium and magnesium division, from the control of the Materials Director,. Mr. Eberstadt, to the Production Control Director, Mr. Wilson, who is responsible for war plant production for which 80 per cent, of the nation's aluminium is used.
Mr. Nelson announced that he had asked for Mr*. Eberstadt's resignation and appointed Mr. Wilson, who is vicechairman of the War Production Boards to take over the duties which were formerly carried put by ICr, Xber*' stadt
