Public Service Women's Club. -A large crowd thronged the Public Service Women's" Club Rooms,: Hatir nah?s Building, Lambton Quay, for the dance on Saturday evening. Miss C. Brice (of the Ministry of Man-power) and Miss K. Burke (Public Works Department) were hostesses for the evening. The Departments responsible for the splendid supper arrangements were Customs and Lands and Survey. A large humber of servicenien and club members were also present oh Sunday • evening when- a 'fhre~programme of j tjihis lent; by the Education..-Departs ment was shown. Mrs. Kingston Smith1 was in charge of the arrangements. Canteen Group's Dance. ' The V.M.C.A. gymnasium was packed on Saturday night when the members of the No. 1 Canteen Group of the W.W.S.A. conducted their first dance for the year. New Zealand and visiting servicemen spent a very pleasant evening The Sunday evening tea was provided by the members of the Y.M.Q.A. Boys' Department Ladies' Auxiliary.-In. addition to the excellent, tea served, a splendid programme was presented. Mr. J. Reid, chairman of the Boys' Work Committee, was chairman. Songs were sung by Mrs. and Miss Halberson and Private Mcllbride and Miss Hazel bMbcNaulty gave humorous recitations. Pianists tor the community singing, which was led by Mr. Brooker, -were Mrs. London and Mr. Fred Brittain. Dionne Quintuplets Help. The Dionne quintuplets recently visited Toronto, where they made six public appearances on behalf of Canada's third Victory bLoarh . They sang in French and English, played on tlie organ they had taken . with,, them, marched, and saluted. Fifty thousand persons attended the performances. Only once before have' they left their home, and that was in 1939, when they went to Toronto to meet the King and Queen during their tour of Canada.
