QUICK ACTION
NATIONAL SAVINGS WOMEN'S COMMITTEE
Thirteen women's organisations within the city . were represented recently at a further meeting of the National Savings Women's Committee in Wellington. Miss Amy Kane was in the chair. Mr. C. F. A. Waters, secretary of the Wellington National Savings Centre, congratulated the women on the quick action they had taken, and he suggested plans for their future activities. The first thing, he said, was to organise and extend the sale of National Savings stamps in Wellingtori and suburban areas. Courtesy and follow-up calls should be paid to shopkeepers to see how the sales were progressing. He assured the women they would have the shopkeepers' co-operation, as he had had. The next step would be for suburban women organisers to plan for stamp selling in residential streets. He pointed out that National Savings bonds were transferable and were repayable in five years from the time of issue, but at the same time they could also be turned into cash at any time.
A resolution to the effect that the provisional committee '■ elected at the initial meeting last. week should continue to act was passed. The committee is to invite large women's bodies to send representatives to act on the committee, which will then become a permanent one. It will elect a chairman and a representative to sit on the National Committee. Miss Florence Low was elected honorary secretarytreasurer. The women's committee will be a sub-committee of the" W.W.S.A.
