TRANSPORT OF CAMP ENTERTAINERS
Figures showing "the valuable patriotic effort" of members of the Automobile Association (Wellington) in transporting camp entertaiaers over the last three years were quoted by the chairman of the executive of the association (Mr. E. A. Batt) at the meeting of the executive last night when it was decided.that the association should pay the expenses of such transport for the next twelve months at a cost of between £150 and £175. The chairman said- that in three years the private motorists had used 3500 gallons of petrol costing about £450, in addition to wear and tear on vehicles wiiich would bring the total up to about £900. All this had been paid for by the motorists and they had not asked for any financial assistance. In that time they had travelled between 40,000 and 50,000 miles and carried 5000 people.
