SUBMARINE'S SERVICE

VITAL GASOLENE FOR MALTA

LONDON, January 28. With the return of the submarine Porpoise after a 14 months' trip in the Mediterranean, it is now possible to tell one of the most dramatfc stories about Malta's great fight. Last year, when the German air attacks had reached their height against the island, the Porpoise kept Malta supplied with vital gasolene. This under-water supply service enabled R.A.F. fighters to hang on, hit back, and finally rout the Luftwaffe. The Porpoise also sent half a dozen Axis ships to the bottom.
