HERE AND THERE
Petone Services Club. The Petone Combined Services Club held a very successful Christmas party on Sunday evening, there being about 150 servicemen present. Songs were sung by Miss Allen, a song and dance was given by Jimmy Thompson, an acrobatic tap dance by Miss Val Simpson, and songs by Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Dalley. The committee wishes to thank Mr. Ray Mailman's Band for providing the dance music, Mr. August for milk, Mrs. Mackley and Mrs. Tulloch for Christmas cakes, Miss N. Scott for a donation of prizes, Miss Joan Cunliffe for table tennis bat, Mr. Watson and another rowing club member for putting up the flag decorations, Mr. Marsh for extra work in the clubroom. and the club members who provided the home-made supper. The games were well patronised and Mr. Watson was M.C. Christmas at Beach Hospital. Appreciation of the very happy Christmas spent in No. 1 Ward, Beach Hospital, Otaki, is expressed by a patient. The decorations were most artistic, and Christmas carols were sung by the matron, doctors, sisters, and nursing staff.
