WASHINGTON. November 1
At least 3,000,000 women must be recruited for the country's labour force within the next year, said the Secretary of Labour. Miss Perkins. She explained that non-agricultural labour had already reached the record figure of 38,000,000, but 4,500,000 more workers were needed in war industries by December, 1943, of whom probably 3.000,000 would be women.
