NAVY COMMUNIQUE

A Navy Department co7/nxnunique says that in the South Pacific on October 29 United States aircraft continued their attacks on enemy positions on Guadalcanal. During minor ground operations two enemy 75 mm. guns w«E»e captured on the Matanikau Rivffl?. Late in. the evening a Douglas Dauntless dive-bomfyeir attacked . two enemy destroyers near Tasayajronga (on the n'/n^th coast of Guadalcanal). No hits were scored, but the destroyers i.vere driven westward towards fttissell Island. On October 30, earfc* in the morning, dive-bombers attacked enemy destroyers in the vicinity -dl Russell Island. The results have pQt been reported, and one dive-bomber has not returned. During the morntag, seven Grumman Wildcats attacked we enemy at Rekata Bay. Three Zero tfjroat-planes and two biplanes were shot; -down, and buildings and a fuel dumpi strafed and set on fire. Surface ships bombarded enemy positions on Guadalcanal. Some artillery, and several biddings and boats' were destroyed.
