American Vessels Off Guadalcanal

LOMDON, November 1. A Washington communique says that American warships bombarded Japanese positions on Guadalcanal for over two hours. "Buildings were destroyed as well as some enemy artillery. American aircraft have also kept up their attacks. Douglas dive-bombers attacked two enemy destroyers and drove them westwards towards Russell Island. More divebor^bers followed up, but the results are not yet known. One di^e-bomber did not get baoJc.

American "Wildcats attacked the enemy at Rekata Bay. Bfaildings and fuel dumps:, were set on fire and five enemy tiianes were shot down.
