NEXT-OF-KIN PARTY

RELATIVES OF NAVAL MEN

Next-of-kin of men serving overseas in the Royal New Zealand Navy were entertained yesterday afternoon by the president and women's committee of the Navy League. The gathering was held in the English-speaking Union rooms, and was arranged by the Wellington R.S.A. Women's Section. Lady Lake, wife of the Chief of Naval Staff, is president of the women's committee and welcomed the guests. There were 260 invitations issued to relatives living either within the area of the headquarters' branch of the Wellington R.S.A. Women's Section or where no women's section branch existed. The party provided these people with 'an opportunity to exchange news. The rooms were beautifully decorated with flowers, tea was served, and the visitors were entertained with a musical programme arranged by Mrs. Maundull Hobbs, those taking part being Mrs. C. McDonald, Mrs. Fahey, Mrs. Mackenzie, and Miss Molly Atkinson. All the performers received sheafs of flowers and shoulder posies of lily-of-the-valley. Mrs. C. H. Weston, president of the Women's Section, R.S.A., thanked Lady Lake and her committee for their hospitality. ■
