WORTH WHILE
CONVOY TO NORTHERN RUSSIA BIGGEST SUPPLY YET
LONDON, September 28. Survivors from the recent Russian convoy were welcomed back home by Mr. Noel Baker, Parliamentary Undersecretary to the Ministry of Transport They had delivered the biggest single consignment of amis, tanks, and aircraft ever made. Addressing the men, Mr. Baker said: "We know what the convoy cost us, but whatever the cost it was worth while. The materials you have taken to Russia may be the deciding factor in bringing Hitler to his doom." He said that this was not the only convoy that would be going to Russia —there would be even bigger convoys. The Russian and Malta convoys would have the best possible air services. The Allied nations, Mr. Baker said, were' now more powerful than the Axis in every particular—manpower, arms, and aircraft—and the enemy could never hope to equal the aircraft in the making.
