CROSSING FATALITY

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 11, An accident at the Broadway railway crossing, Matamata, this evening resulted in the death of Miss Emily Howard, aged about 41, of Rotorua, A car she was driving collided with the Frankton-Rotorua passenger train. Miss Tcherne, aged 20, of Auckland, who was in the car, suffered severe shock. The car was hit just behind the driver's seat, overturned, and thrown clear of the track.
