CORVETTE'S WAR RECORD
LONDON, April 14. The corvette Heather, which docked recently, is a little ship with a big war record. Merchant seamen have dubbed her "Lucky mascot of the North Atlantic." . She steamed 50,000 miles in the last 119 months, escorting 1600 ships in over 50 .convoys without loss or damage to one vessel. She never sighted a Üboat or a hostile surface, craft. Of the ships she escorted only one was attacked from the air, and the convoy's barrage drove off the raiders.
