TO BE EMPTIED
OLD NEWTOWN SCHOOL
"We shall evaduate Newtown school," said the chairman of the Wellington Hospital Board, Mr. F. Castle, in reply to a question at a meeting of the board last night. The taking over of the Otaki Health Camp would enable the board to send 200 patients there, he said, and the old Newtown school would be emptied. There was a \move to have the building demolished, but he thought it should be kept empty until the period of emergency was past.
Mr. A. P. O'Shea said he would like to see the school evacuated as soon as possible, but it would be a foolish step to demolish it. They should impress on the Government that no building that could be of any possible' use during the war should be demolished. He moved that they should express that view, and this was agreed to.
