ENGINEERS MEET

N.Z. INSTITUTE

The annual meeting of the New I Zealand Institute of Engineers, was held in Wellington this week. The report of the council expressed apprec'ation of the efforts of the Director of Mobilisation in getting trained men now in the armed forces placed where they would be most useful. The institute was represented in Army technical units, in the Navy, Fleet Air Arm, and in both air crews and ground staff of the Air Force. Over 11 per cent, of members were serving overseas, and a number was employed on defence duties' in New Zealand. The report of the Fulton Trustees was presented by Mr. J. G. Lancaster. The award of the Fulton gold medal went to Mr. E. C. Schnackenberg (Wellington). 'The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr. A.O. Glass (Auckland), vice-presidents,' Messi»s J. G. Henderson (Dunedin); ex-officio members of council, the chairman of Wellington, Auckland, Otago, and Canterbury branches; hon. secretary, Mr. F. W. Furkert (Wellington), hon. treasurer, Mr. A. J. Baker (Wellington). Messrs, Watkins, Hull, Wheeler, and Johnston were appointed auditors.
