CANDIDATES FOR OFFICE

Candidates for election to office in the New Zealand Labour Party are again numerous this year. For the presidency there are three nominees: Mr. James Roberts (seeking reelection), Dr. D. G. McMillan, M.P., and the Minister of Health (Mr.rA. H. Nordmeyer). The election takes place at the Easter conference.

The nominees for the office of vicepresident are: Mr. C. W. Boswell, M.P., Mr. Clyde Carr, M.P., Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P., Mr. P. Dowse, Mrs. M. M. Dreaver, M.P., Mr. J. R. Herbert, Mr. J. Hodgens, M.P., Mr. L. G. Lowry, M.P., the Minister of Health (Mr. Nordmeyer), Mr. P. K. Paikea (Maori member of the Executive Council), Mr. J. Robertson, M.P., Mrs. C. Stewart, M.P., and Mr. J. Thorn, M.P. ,

For secretary-treasurer the nominations are Messrs. M. Moohan, R. Goodman, W: C. Rankin, and J. A. Stead. The present members of the Central Executive, Messrs. T. Brindle, M.L.C., P. Dowse, R. Eddy, M.L.C., and J. O. Johnson, and Mrs. M. Semple, have been nominated for re-election. The other candidates are Messrs. F. C. Allerby, K. Baxter, H. G. Burrell, E. E. Canham, C. H, Chapman, M.P., JH. Collins, H. E. Combs, M.P., G. Farrow, W. A. Fox, W. A. P. Hall, and P. Hansen, Mrs. E. Harris, Mr. C. J. Hay, Mrs. M. Hayman, Messrs. R. Holland, H. V. Horler, and E. H. Langford, Mrs. B. F. Logic, Messrs. M. McGavin, R. McKeen, M.P., F. G. Molesworth. and E. Napier, Miss D. Nix, Mrs. D. Palmer, Mr. D. K. Pritchard, Mrs. B. Reid, Messrs. W. H. Sadd, A. Shearer. A. Spurr, and J. A. Stead, Mrs. C. Stewart, M.P., Mr. S. Thompson, and Mrs. G. M. Unsworth. Two of the divisional area representatives on the National Executive, Messrs. D. Barnes (Timaru) and W. K. Mr. Boswell has been re-elected unopposed for! Area No. 1, and Mr. D. W. Stalker has been re-elected for Area No. 12.
