HUTT WIN PAIRS

The Wellington Bowling Centre's pairs championship, which concluded at the Karori Bowling Club's green yesterday, was won by the Hutt pair, S. Muter and W. Hadwin. The final, in which the other contestants were A. G. Warwick and S. London (Wellington) was keenly contested, though for the main part Hutt held an advantage ■

Early in the game Wellington took the lead, but Hutt then had a successful run over several ends, with the result that the score changed from 5-0 in Wellington's favour to 5-9. Except on the next end, Wellington did not score again for quite a while. Throughout the play there was some burning of heads, and the game lasted a long time before the end came on the twentieth with the score at Hutt 22, Wellington 12. During the afternoon the centre president (Mr. T. Lock* congratulated the players and paid tribute to the condition of the Karori green, making special mention of the green superintendent (Mr. W. Cooper) and the greenkeeper (Mr. T. Walker).
