CHAMPIONSHIP PAIRS
For the senii-flnal and final of the Wellington Bowling Centre's championship pairs the conditions today were excellent. The games were played on the Karori Bowling Club's green., Hutt and Wellington contest tho final this afternoon. The others in the semi-final were Wellington, Hataitai, and Lyall Bay. Play yesterday was affected to some extent by a strong wind. Results after the first round were:— Second Round.—Upper Hutt (Quinn, Rendle, s) 22, Seatoun. (Williams, Snelling, s) 16; Wellington (Warwick, London, s) 19; Johnsonvllle (Hogg, Mill*, s) 18. Lyall Bay (Hale, King, s) 22, Karori (Dempster, Leadbeater, si S; Kelburn (Emeny, Dyett, s) 26; Otaki (Nicolson. Pike, s) 18; Woburn (Murphy, August s), 22, I'orirua Hospital (Treweek, Hallidny, s) 21; Hutt (Muter, Hiidwin, s), 24, Otaki Railway (Enoka. Webster, s), 17; Petone (Goodall, Gough, s) won from Eastbourne bj defiant, Haiaital iMcJennett. McCune, b) 22, Plimmerton (Cumberwortli; Bramley, s) 16. Third Round. —Hutt 23, Woburn 13; Hataitai 26, Petone 20; Wellington 20, Upper Hutt 13; Lyall Bay 20, Kelburn 10.
Semi-final.—Wellington 22, Lyall Bay 14; Hutt 25, Hataitai 9.
Sentences of two months' imprisonment were imposed upon Albert Gordon Woi-boys and John Gibson, who appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today, charged with failure to report for military service. James Alexander Wilson was sentenced to one month's imprisonment for failure to enrol.
