CARGO PILLAGING

! BICYCLE TUBES AND TYRES GONE (P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. When a consignment of four bundles of bicycle tubes and tyres was delivered to Hope Gibbons, Ltd., Albert Street it was found that one bundle had been pillaged and all the tubes removed. "The pillage was obviously done at this end," stated the manager of" the firm. "The tubes were standard size and the loss is particularly serious because of the scarcity of tubes." There had always been a certain amount of pillaging, he added, but it had become worse during the last two years owing to the scarcity of goods and goods having to remain on the wharves owing to delays over import licence papers.
