NAZI PLAN
CUTTING BRITISH LINE OF SUPPLY
ROUTE TO MURMANSK
{By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, February 23. It is believed that the Germans intend to attempt to cut the British supply line to Murmansk. This is supported by reports that the warships Tirpitz, Admiral Scheer, and Admiral Hipper are on their way to Trondheim.
Increasing activity by British reconnaissance planes on the Norwegian coast is worrying the Germans. Air alarms at Trondheim have become so common that the Nazi newspapers no longer mention them. The Germans report frequently that Allied submarines and surface craft have been seen along the Norwegian coast, particularly around Kirkenes, where Russian naval units are reported to be almost constantly on patrol.
The German Admiral Groos states that a British invasion of northern Norway or Petsamo would be suicidal.
