PERSONAL NOTES
Mrs. C. Freyberg, commandant of the Red Cross transport section, Palmerston North,, has left for Auckland, where she will spend three months. Mr. and Mrs. R. Bender, Island Bay, have returned home after spending a holiday in. Christchurch. Misses Joyce and Monica Walker, Wellington, are spending a holiday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Walker, Akaroa. Mrs. D. A Butler, of Suva, Fiji, who has been in Wellington, has returned to Auckland and is staying at Courtville. Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Keys have left Wellington for Auckland, where Dr. Keys will'commence his duties as Professor of Modern Languages at Auckland University College. Mrs. F. H. Mansell, wife of Lieut.Commander Mansell, R.N., has arrived from England and is at present staying with Dr. Elizabeth Cole, Royal Oak, Auckland. She will shortly take up residence at Blomfield Spa. Takapuna. Mrs. W. W. McCormick, Wellington,, is the guest of her sister-in-law. Mrs. HE. Blyde, Lepperton, Taranaki. Mrs. McGilligan, Taihape, who has been spending a holiday at Otaki, has returned to Taihape. Miss Grace Meuli, Wellington, who has been visiting her aunts in Wanganui, has now left for Rotorua, where she has accepted a position on the senior staff of the new hospital there. Miss G. M. Leipst has relinquished the position of lady superintendent of the Cook Hospital, and Miss J. Iris Martin has been appointed tb that position. Miss Martin was formerly tutor sister al the Waikato Hospital. Miss Carter, Tangoio, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Hay-Barclay, Wellington. Sister Scott, who has been spending a holiday at Otaki, returned to Wellington on Monday evening. Britain's oldest woman, Mrs. Sarah Adcock, who was reputed to be aged 108, has died at Northampton. Relatives kept her ignorant of the war. She made a plane flight in 1938 and had her first motor-car ride when she was 105. She had 15 children. Mr. and Mrs. I. Gotlieb, Mr. and Mrs. E. Gotlieb, Mesdames A. Gray and r Anson, and Misses M. Penman, S. and H. Gotlieb, all of Wellington, and Misses M. and P. Jamieson, Masterton. were visitors to Wanganui for the Gotlieb—Toms wedding, which took place there on Saturday. Miss Violet Eastman, Raetihi, is spending a holiday in Wellington.
