MORE CLUB REPORTS

The members of Webby's Club were all very busy during the weekend providing bright and varied entertainment for the large numbers of men who visited the club. The many novelties and latest hits played by the band were a feature of the entertainment. During the festivities on Saturday evening the secretary made a speech wishing one of the members of the club a happy twenty-first birthday. She and her twin soldier brother, who was also present, received a small gift. On Sunday the club was packed all day, a*nd after tea there was dancing to music supplied by two members of the fighting Services. The committee is grateful lo the ladies who provided the delicious cakes for supper and the donor of an Escalado set. The members would be gratefulfor donations of magazines and good reading matter. ' W.A.A.F. CLUB ENTERTAINS. The Y.W.C.A.'s Woman's Auxiliary Air Force Club entertained record crowds of men in uniform. on Saturday in the clubroom at 166 Cuba Street. Members of the W.A.A.F. mess section carried out the arrangements and organisation, the special savoury supper being provided by Mrs. Tilling, of the W.A.A.F. mess. The evening's programme included numbers by Miss Margaret Wright. Mrs. J. Hill- was hostess and Mr. Hill was in charge of the men's coats. HIBERNIAN SOCIETY ON DUTY. Mrs. Lane, of the Hibernian Society, assisted by Mrs. Hale, Misses K. Stevens, M. Gore. P. O'Halloran, T. O'Neill, and N. Mclnerney, were hostesses at the Catholic Services Club during the weekend, when there was a large attendance of servicemen. The room was decorated with flowers sent in by a friend, and a hamper from the Hibernian Society was much appreciated. On one evening an exhibition dance was given by Miss Molloy and partner. The Rev. Father Treahy, Army chaplain, was a visitor to the club on Saturday night. The club would much appreciate donations of a settee and easy chairs to add to the comfort of their guests. THE CINDERELLAS. Friday. 13th, usually considered an unlucky day, was not so for the Cinderella Club. A most enjoyable evening was spent by the members of the forces who gathered there. Several very entertaining items were given by three soldiers. A special dance was held on Saturday night, dance music being provided by Gordon Marple and items being given by Mr. J. Christie and his orchestra. A savoury supper was served. On Sunday evening delicious hot and cold teas were served. Owing to the large increase in attendance for teas on Sundays, the club would be grateful for donations of cutlery. The music on Sunday was once again provided by Mrs. Allen. Girls on duty over the weekend were Misses E. King, E. Ibbet, N. Ede, M. Cawley, N. JFuller, P. Ginders, K. Hanratty, and V. Haywood. Y.F.H. CLUB KEPT BUSY. An extra large crowd of men of the Forces attended the Y.F.H. dance in the Blue Triangle Hall on Saturday night and the dinner which preceded it. Mrs. A. Lawson and Mrs. W. Tailby were hostesses, assisted by the committee and members of the Y.F.H. Kitchen arrangements were under the direction of Miss A. D. Rennie and her usual helpers. Miss K. Smith, Mrs. Mclnnes, and the Methodist Choir staffed the cafeteria on Saturday, and Miss Betty Page and Marsden Old Girls on Sunday Supper was donated and prepared on Saturday by members of the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church. Vegetables were donated by land groups at Russell Terrace, Karori, Paraparaumu, and Lower Hutt. Cloakroom duty was taken by the Y.W.C.A. Baseball Club, and Messrs. Tailby, P. Brake, Martin, Robson, and Jessen. The community sing and the service were conducted by Mr. Bignell. In place of the usual concert a games evening was held under the direction of Miss Van Darby, president of the Y.F.H. Club. A NASTY HANDICAP. During warm weather a nasty cold gets one down.
