STATIC SITUATION

WIDENING OF FRONT

LONDON, January 28

In Malaya, on the main fighting line which now stretches across the peninsula from east to west, the situation appears to be materially unchanged. On the east coast there have been no further reports of Japanese landings in the Endau region and fighting is still going on about 60 miles north of the Singapore causeway.

On the west coast, heavy fighting has been taking place about 55 miles from the crossing to Singapore Island.
