SUPPLIES OF POTATOES

Supplies of Australian potatoes bought by the Government to relieve the temporary shortage here are expected to be put on the local market tomorrow, according to an ofnciai intimation given today. The maximum price that the retailers can charge to the public is 3£d a lb. It is anticipated that local supplies will come forward much more freely after a week or ten days. In the meantime the imported potatoes will help to bridge the gap in supplies.
