NOT WANTED NOW

"Cincus" as Commander

(Rec. 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, January 7. The Navy Department disclosed that from today it has abandoned the official abbreviated designation "Cincus" (Cominander-in-Chief, United States fleet). Instead the Department has adopted the form "Cominch." No comment was available from the Navy Department, but officials hinted that the objection to "Cincus" is that it is pronounced "sink us."
