Brigadier O. H. Mead, C.8.E., D.5.0., has reassumed command in the Southern Military District. Because of various developments overseas and the decision to mobilise in New Zealand the projected change of command in the Southern Military District has been abandoned.

Mr. W. E. Hole, chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Board, arrived today from Auckland.

Mr. G. D. Griffiths, architect, has been elected unopposed to the Christchurch City Council to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Major T. Milliken.
